-great beach, sea lions, popular for surfing
La Lobería is a bit out of the way and not within the main port town. However, it’s worth the walk, particularly at sunset.
You can either take a taxi, or the walk takes 20-25 minutes. From the main road along the sea front, you need to head west towards the airport. Keep walking until you get out of town and you will come across a dirt track in an undeveloped area. Not the most attractive walk as you pass a rubbish tip, a quarry and other areas in construction. The road is not busy with only a few taxis and the odd lorry passing, so it’s quite safe walking. Follow the road up to the top of the hill and then from there, it’s a straight steady decline towards to the beach. We started to pass other beach-goers and surfers heading in the same direction.
It’s a lovely beach for families and seemed popular with surfers. And, of course, there were a few sea lions! However, it’s much bigger than the other beaches nearer the port, so it doesn’t feel so crowded and it’s calmer and quieter. We went towards the end of the afternoon, when the sun started to set, which is a beautiful sight!
